The text of most recent dream reports from participants in the Demographic Survey 2010 and other sources. The exact question for the Demographic Survey 2010: Please describe your most recent dream, either from last night or within the last week, in as much detail as possible. The response is limited to 3000 characters. I dreamed I was interacting with my wife and kids; we are arguing about the boys buying games, my wife is siding with the kids and I am opposed to them spending money on XBox games. I sense that I am the "bad guy", and I feel great exasperation. Later, this carries over into my wife and my sexual relationship: I am still bothered by her unwillingness to yield to my authority, and I resist her sexual advances. This is an oft-recurring dream. The theme is always centered around my impotence to exert fatherly authority which is woven into my sexual apathy or impotence.

The text of earliest remembered dream reports from participants in the Demographic Survey 2010 and other sources. Exact question: Please describe the first dream you remember from childhood in as much detail as you can. Response is limited to 3000 characters. I was 3 or 4. The dream is me and my older brother ( by one year), being left in some kind of day care center with kids and adults whom we did not know. My sense is that an event like this actually happened one time when my mom and dad were looking at houses because we were moving from Modesto California to Fresno. We were left there for most of a day; probably only a few hours though. A couple of events always occur in my dream about this day. First, I have a deep sense of abandonment; my folks have probably never left me like this as far as i can remember. Also, my older brother didn't seem bothered at all by being left, but that only heightened my anxiety. I remember (all of this is in the dream; I have no idea how much really happened), that the adults were trying to comfort me and encourage me to play in the yard with other kids. My brother Lance was chasing after a balloon bouncing along the ground, and it seemed that everyone was watching and waiting for something. Then, the balloon POPPED loudly, scared me to death, but everyone was laughing. I remember thinking that they were laughing at my brother and this gave me enormous anxiety. But Lance wasn't bothered by it. The climax of the dream comes suddenly, and it is this that makes the dream a nightmare; one which I had over and over as a young child. All of a sudden: I see my mother, father and brother, impaled on some sort of rake or garden hoe: there's no blood or gore, I just know that theyhave been somehow fixed on some metal tool which they did not choose. Accompanied by this sudden vision - which is surrounded by images from an Alice in Wonderland scene; probably this story was read to us at the daycare. Or perhaps it was before or after and had scared me somehow. Anyway, along with this frightening vision was a chorus of voices singing one shrill note, very loudly. The mouths of my mother father and brother were formed into an "O" shape like some operatic mockery. This is when I always woke up, drenched in sweat with the rushing sound of my blood in my ears vof course, that sound always blended in perfectly with that last horrible choir note. Weird.
