The text of most recent dream reports from participants in the Demographic Survey 2010 and other sources. The exact question for the Demographic Survey 2010: Please describe your most recent dream, either from last night or within the last week, in as much detail as possible. The response is limited to 3000 characters. The most terrifying dream in recent memory. It played like a movie, where I was in the perspective of the camera. Really weird, gory, and intensely frightening. Sorta like if Alien, Dead Space, The Thing, and GLaDOS from Portal were all involved to make this dream as scary as possible, in a fully unique environment and atmosphere. I wish I remembered more because even though it was legitimately horrifying (Not easy since few things scare me) it would have made a great movie. Then it changed gears and I ended up in Left 4 Dead 2 as one of the Survivors, hacking my way through the Infected horde. A good night for subconscious entertainment.

The text of earliest remembered dream reports from participants in the Demographic Survey 2010 and other sources. Exact question: Please describe the first dream you remember from childhood in as much detail as you can. Response is limited to 3000 characters. I was in some large, expansive facility as a kid, and I remember jumping. The first jump was normal, the second was slightly higher than usual, and each successive hop got me higher and higher into the air. Eventually after about 20 jumps gravity was a meaningless notion, and I could maintain trajectory under my own power. Even though I knew it shouldn't work that way (thanks, Bill Nye) it seemed plausible, like I could do it at any time in reality. Later dreams had me jump into space and fly way, way out into some strange dimensions in which size and perspective fluctuated constantly. Basically, a kindergarten-era Acid Trip. Pretty intense at that age, and I've had variations on that dream since then.

The text of worst nightmare reports from participants in the Demographic Survey 2010 and other sources. Exact question: Please describe the worst nightmare you can remember, from any period of your life, in as much detail as you can. Response is limited to 3000 characters. Although the aforementioned nightmare was damned terrifying, this one pulled out all the stops. The previous dream was horribly scary yet almost entertaining, and the perspective was mostly a detached camera view, so the terror was similar to that of a horror movie: escapist and kinda fun. This next one was awful for me as a kid. My dreams tend to not make sense, especially when I look back and remember certain details in order, and this one shares that same continuity problem, but in the dream, it seemed real. I was running away from some creature, and no matter what I did to try to stop it or try to outrun it, it just kept gaining on me. Only once did the dream actually reach a conclusion and not just "flip to a different channel," and in the dream it killed me. I woke up and my heart was racing and I could not fall asleep for several hours. In a few different variations, I try fighting it or using different tactics, and in one instance, I managed to kill it, since I realized I could control the rules of the dream. I've stopped having the dream since.
