The text of most recent dream reports from participants in the Demographic Survey 2010 and other sources. The exact question for the Demographic Survey 2010: Please describe your most recent dream, either from last night or within the last week, in as much detail as possible. The response is limited to 3000 characters. My most recent dream was one of my classic work anxiety dreams. I was at work, but the place looked nothing like the college where I actually work. It was a very large open space with low walls so I could see for a distance. The exterior walls were mostly glass so it felt like I was outside. It was the last day of the semester and one of my colleagues asked if we were going to have an English Department meeting (I am the department chair). I thought to myself, "Shit! I totally forgot to schedule a meeting," but I told her, "Yes, there is a meeting one hour from now." The remainder of my dream involved me scrambling around the campus looking for a room in which to have the meeting. I kept coming across colleagues and telling them about the meeting, but I was having no luck finding a room to meet in. As I frantically searched, I could see time ticking away until the hour had passed and I still hadn't found a room. I was really freaking out. When I saw that more than an hour had passed, I imagined my colleagues criticizing me and I started criticizing myself: "Stupid! Incompetent! You are in way over your head!" I was awakened by a cat walking on my head.

The text of earliest remembered dream reports from participants in the Demographic Survey 2010 and other sources. Exact question: Please describe the first dream you remember from childhood in as much detail as you can. Response is limited to 3000 characters. I dreamed I was riding my bike in the neighborhood I grew up in. There was a small ramp on the sidewalk and I approached it as fast as I could so I could jump it. However, when I hit the ramp, I began to crash and jerked myself awake. Note about the dream: As I grew up, I continued to have a similar dream where I would trip on a step or slip on some ice and jerk myself awake. This dream usually occurs not long after I have fallen asleep.

The text of worst nightmare reports from participants in the Demographic Survey 2010 and other sources. Exact question: Please describe the worst nightmare you can remember, from any period of your life, in as much detail as you can. Response is limited to 3000 characters. I've had many dreams throughout my adult life where I am being chased. Usually I am with a couple friends or members of my family, but we get separated. I have been chased by aliens, zombies, police, or people who think I have wronged them. The action in these dreams usually occurs in dark places outside and then I move into a building or house and attempt to lock all the doors and windows. I always wake up before I am caught.
